The practice ground is reserved for members of the Junior Golf Academy on Saturday’s from 11:00 – 13:00 and on Sunday’s from 11.00 – 13:00 except on Major weekends and Bank Holiday weekends. All academy members must be current members of Portarlington Golf Club
Group lessons are provided, on these dates, by the Junior Committee. They are primarily for our Junior members. Members of Portarlington Golf Club are invited to encourage junior family members to take part. Most, if not all, of our successful young members started on the practice range under good supervision and guidance from good Junior Committee members and volunteers. Our goal this year is to progress older juniors to complete cards for handicap purposes. We will do this with the support of volunteers. This year we are introducing Juniors only tee times on Thursdays from 14.00-16.00. We encourage as many juniors to play during this time as possible.
Competitions: We run monthly 9 hole competitions for those juniors with handicaps and a chip & putt for juniors who are part of the academy, this gives our juniors the opportunity to take part in competitive golf, introducing them to playing independently and maintaining score cards. This year we will also run 3 x 18 hole competitions over the summer for our senior junior golfers with handicaps. We also have Junior Captains Day, Shane Lowry Open competition and the Mc Mahon Cup (2- day event).
Our boys and girls also take part in a number of Golf Ireland Interclub competitions, Golf Sixes competitions and leagues and Golf Nines League.

Get into Junior Golf
Get into Junior Golf is a programme designed by the Portarlington Golf Junior Committee to recruit and train new Junior members and to make golf more accessible to a wider audience.
At present the programme is at its capacity. A waiting list is in operation to add a name please contact Andrew at [juniorconvenor@portarlingtongolfclub.ie]
