One Governing Body for Golf in Ireland – Result of Ladies Branch Vote

At a meeting in the golf club on Tuesday 30th October 2018, the Ladies Branch of Portarlington Golf Club voted to accept the proposal put to it for the formation of a single governing body for golf in Ireland (Golf Ireland) and the consequent abolition of the Irish Ladies Golf Union. The two votes of Portarlington Ladies Branch will now be brought to an E.G.M. of the I.L.G.U.  in the Moran’s Red Cow Hotel on Saturday the 19th January 2019 when all ladies clubs will vote on the proposal.

Ladies Golf – Prize Presentation Night on Tuesday 30th October 2018

The monthly presentation of prizes will take place on Tuesday next 30th October at 7:30 p.m.

In addition to the presentation of prizes, information on the agreed Proposal for the formation of a single governing body for golf in Ireland (Golf Ireland) will be provided. You will have an opportunity to clarify any points and vote on a resolution to legally constitute Golf Ireland and consequently dissolve the I.L.G.U. The outcome of your  vote will be brought to a separately convened E.G.M. of the I.L.G.U. which will be held in Moran’s Red Cow Hotel on Saturday 19th January 2019.

The Proposal is the most significant change to impact the administration of Irish ladies golf in the past 125 years. The landscape of golf in Ireland and indeed worldwide has changed over that time and the I.L.G.U. are now seeking to establish an organisation that is fit for purpose and reflects a modern culture. The message from the I.L.G.U. is that it believes that it has a very strong proposal and is 100% behind it.

It is very important that you attend on Tuesday next so that you are well informed on the Proposal and are in a position to vote on same.
