Lady L-Plater’s Golfing Journal
9-2-2010

So we three brave ol’ 36ers made an executive decision to turn up at 9.30a.m. rather than 11a.m. so we could “get more done” post golf AND we’d get to play golf with different ladies…

And there the three of us were – the only ladies that were there at that time on this day (how do they know?  How??) – so off we jolly well went.

But we were a 3-ball of good intent and limited experience and we were followed by not one but two sets of exceptionally talented and far hitting 2-balls.  In honour of good golfing etiquette we let them both through at the third tee.  Although I did feel somewhat like a jolly old traffic director as I waved them on, both L-Plater H and I got to visit the facilities – for ‘twas a cold northerly wind that rattled our kidneys.

The cold breezes aside, I did manage a stonking good drive on the 9th – all my golfing coalesced in one beautiful swing – my head stayed down – my left elbow remained uncollapsed – my left knee resisted the urge to genuflect and my drive made that lovely noise when it hit the ball perfectly.  The ball flew – lofted into the air – going for miles – straight into the last tree on the left of coppice #1 on the right hand side.  Hurmph.

My dear fellow L-Platers reacted with the speed of light – their facial expressions morphed from “bloody well done girl” to evil bloody tree” in a mere split second as the ball’s forward progress ended and it went sharply to the left.  Bummer.
