Miracle On The First
Too Many Hats, Not Enough Trousers

So there we were – bright, early and in splendid isolation L-Plater H and myself at 9.30.  The sun shone but it was a tad frosty so temporaries ‘twas to be.

Away we went with two fine(ish) drives and on.  My 3rd headed briskly for the fabulous ornamental water feature but thankfully stopped just shy of it.  L-Plater H, a mighty hitter, sent hers ever so much further to the watery mass.  I could see the despondency on her face as the ball flew straight into the pond and then I witnessed the disbelief as I informed her that her ball had skittered straight across the icy sheet and off the far side – as if I would lie…

We moved swiftly along and so too did the sun.  The Heavens opened with a lovely, slightly sleety fall of snow.  L-Plater H was waterproofed and fine.  My waterproof trousies were dry and snug – safe in the back of the vehicle.  Undefeated, I improvised beautifully – my jacket was fully zipped up, my waterproof hat went on over my light Spring woolly hat and under my tres optimistically placed shades, my back was turned to the wind and my trolley parked behind me.  I was fine.

We allowed two ladies on – not due to our slow golf, but due to their turbo trollies which are eerily fast and always cause my childhood fear of Doctor Who’s Daleks to re-surface.  Distracting that.

Alas, I became afflicted by a nasty ball-losing condition which broke out on the 7th  - out of bounds and invisible in the gloopy gully – and continued to the 8th – way on down in the right hand drain, perfectly visible but sadly unobtainable.  Just to note that the ball with the two cartoon faces on it is mine.  Mine I tell you.  Mine.

But L-Plater H, having set the tone by getting her ball to walk on water at the first, had a great round.  Lovely-jubbly.

Gotta love the Water Features when
