Summer Time (according to GMT) is almost here

So there we were of a Saturday – The Buddy and I – lurking around the shop, lying in wait for a couple of innocents that we could trick into assisting in the shepherding of me around the course.  And two fine and honourable men undertook the momentous task with nary a shudder.  And they could not have been nicer and were so laid back as to be virtually horizontal.

Their calm demeanours did nothing to alter my hysterical female side and I therefore spent the first two holes doing my finest “Beaker from Sesame Street” impression (you know – the Professor Scientist’s assistant who used to squeak in panic for no apparent reason).  But their calmness was contagious and I had a lovely 3rd (4 – or net birdie for yours truly).  So flushed with success was I that I removed my jacket.  And so refreshing was the breeze on the 4th fairway that I re-jacketed myself quick-smart.

In order to continue my self-sacrificing and to in no way whatsoever cause even an instant of delay for the three Lovely Gentlemen and their golfing rhythm, I gamely launched myself into a brisk jog (or cumbersome trundle, if truth be known) down towards the Ladies’ 14th tee.  You know, it don’t look THAT far but it is.  I neither stopped nor slowed and with my overwhelming physique ‘twas an high impact aerobics session that shook me (and most of the course) to our very cores.

And on we all went – my game had been a mixed bag (shock-horror), but on the 15th I had an absolutely peachy wee chippie thingy onto the green.  One of the Lovely Gentlemen was so generous and so genuine in his praise that he temporarily labelled me with a wee misnomer.  He was mortified while I was so darned happy with a good shot all of my very own and the praise that accompanied it that they could have called me anything at all and I’d still have been chuffed.

And the shot that will bring me back (yet) again … my 3rd on the 18th.  I followed through and the ball just went away away away.  ‘Twas lovely so ‘twas.  And the hour will change tonight – I will selflessly lose that vital one hour of sleepy time in order to have longer days for golfing.  I expect if back for winter tho’.
